Well, I think that it depends on how many people complained about it. In example:
1 person- ignore it
5 people- look into the idea
10- stop doing it for a few games
15- stop doing it for the season
20+- STOP COMPLETLY!
And this is how I would handle it.
I personally don't think that it should've been banned.
But, I do think that lets say I, a christian, in a community full of people of a different religon, were to come across a school of ALOT of people who DO NOT WORSHIP GOD IN ANY WAY, and they wrote stuff on the banners about other stuff like that, well I would be very offended.

Spoken like a true conservative. It's people like YOU who are always trying to move this country in a backwards direction instead of forward. It's people like YOU who obviously DON'T KNOW LAW OR WHAT'S IN THE CONSTITUTION. And it's people like YOU who obviously do not think before they speak (or in this case type). Get your facts straight before you speak, or don't speak at all about something you have great ignorance of.

Personally, I think thuis rule is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. As a christian myself, I think its unfair to ban our religous right that comes with the constitution. Scriptures aren't a bad thing, and it wont hurt anyone to learn about another religion. I mean, if christiand and jewish people are forced to learn about hinduism and such in class, we should be allowd to use scriptures where ever we want. If only one person complained it is unfair to the rest.. if there was a large number of people it would be different.

after reading other posts, i thought tht ppl wernt necessarily forcing ppl 2 believe other religions, jst learn about thm. and if it bothers thm, thn they can ignore it. its not like evry1 is ever gonna b 100% satisfied

something like this just happened to my team. but ours was "the spankie tradition" where we show the horse shoes on our spankies to the boys right after they win a game, and a mom complained. but the principle is calming her down :/

Umm....I think that that is messed up. People are allowed religious freedom. It's not like they tied them down and made them read scriptures. I understand how they may feel pressured about it, but it doesn't have to get so out of porportion, I mean seriously? I think that everyone is way to uptight about everything and we should just they them be. Geez.
